Crowley, Gematria, and Qaballa (Qabalah)


In order to acquire a "contemporary" view of the Craft of Qaballa, it is oft useful to peruse the writings of Aleister Crowley. Crowley secreted much information that proves useful in demonstrating the Craft and provides some historical context to what then becomes "the Isisian Codes". This article will provide a glimpse into Constructs enunciated by Crowley, and in the process, enables us to explore some of the more technical and traditional techniques found in the Craft of Qaballa.

One of the primary goals to the study of Qaballa is to obtain the ability to ascertain occult significances of words. The reason for this is that we wish to penetrate reality and acquire a comprehensive understanding of the Construct.

This effort leads to a philosophical inquiry into the language and indeed, the very effort is at the core of what could be considered Occult Philosophy.

Says an anonymous writer of the Hermetic Arts,

"Let the studious Reader have a care of the manifold significations of words, for by deceitful windings, and doubtful, yea contrary speeches (as it should seem), Philosophers wrote their mysteries, with a desire of veiling and hiding, yet not of sophisticating or destroying the truth; and though their writings abound with ambiguous and equivocal words; yet about none do they more contend than in hiding their Golden Branch."

Qaballa is the Craft through which we are able to ascertain the manifold significations of words. It is Crowley who provided the general public with some of the techniques employed to discover some of these manifold signification of Words.

Wrote Crowley in Gematria,

The methods of discovering Dogma from sacred Words are also numerous and important: I may mention:—

(a) The Doctrine of Sympathies: drawn from the total Numeration of a Word, when identical with, or a Multiple of Submultiple of, or a Metathesis of, that of another Word.
(b) The Method of finding the Least Number of a Word, by adding (and re- adding) the Digits of its total Number, and taking the corresponding Key of the Taro as a Key to the Meaning of the Word.
(c) The Method of Analogies drawn from the Shape of the Letters.
(d) The Method of Deductions drawn from the Meanings and Correspondences of the letters.
(e) The Method of Acrostics drawn from the Letters. This Mode is only valid for Adepts of the highest Grades, and then under quite exceptional and rare Conditions.
(f) The Method of Transpositions and Transmutations of the Letters, which suggest Analogies, even when they fail to explain in direct Fashion.
All these and their Varieties and Combinations, with some other more abstruse or less important Methods, may be used to unlock the Secret of a Word.

Herein we will review some of these concepts and place them into a more comprehensive perspective.

(a) The Doctrine of Sympathies: drawn from the total Numeration of a Word, when identical with, or a Multiple of Submultiple of, or a Metathesis of, that of another Word.

This is, perhaps, one of the more basic usages (and mis-usages) within the Craft of Qaballa. What this says is that words of similar values must, but their numerical equivalence, by default such become esoterically connected.

For instance, we can take the word GOD and "add it up". It has a value of 26. We may then take the word FLAG and "add it up". The word FLAG, too, has a value of 26. Utilizing Qaballa, we must then find a rational or philosophical REASON why such words have some esoteric equivalence relative to NUMBER.

We may, equally, make rational observations as to the nature of the WORD as it pertains or affects the human psyche or spirit.

What we note is that in the case of "GOD" and "FLAG", each word, based on the "26", has clear similarities and parallels as to their effect on the human psyche and spirit.

We may logically conclude that there is some esoteric link within the words GOD and FLAG as a product of their numerical equivalence.

Thelema, and with it, New Aeon English Qaballa 11, or NAEQ, will often employ the "Doctrine of Sympathies" as part of a process to "prove" the value of Crowley's esoteric system. Examples of this may be found sprinkled across the WWW, but lets draw attention to one from "the 11th Continuum", a site dedicated to various manifestations of NAEQ11.

71 is the value of VENUS, the Great Goddess expressed in Woman; whose planet bestows all the qualities of beauty; whose love is eternal. HEARTS has the value 71: all hearts express love, regardless of whether or no the individual so names his passion, for the man who hates violence loves peace, and he who loves justice abhors injustice; this is why both love and hate cause the same warm glow in the heart. It is wise to understand this when looking at words such as ‘hate’ in Liber AL.

In this example, the Alphabet has been shifted using a cipher wheel known as "NAEQ11". It is noted that using this cipher, the words VENUS and HEARTS share equivalence. The author, a "qaballist", then goes about creating the rational REASON for the equivalence based on observation.

What one finds is that no matter the cipher, the basic process of "adding words up" and then "finding equivalence" and then attaching some esoteric equivalence may indeed ADD DEPTH to a comprehension of the esoteric formulae contained in any given sets of words, the very PROCESS does little to peer deeper into the very attributes of the word ITSELF.

This technique seeks to provide some insights into possible meaning or relationship or provide some clue as to where to seek further, but in no way can guarantee one to arrive at the core Occult formulations contained within any given word.

(b) The Method of finding the Least Number of a Word, by adding (and re- adding) the Digits of its total Number, and taking the corresponding Key of the Taro as a Key to the Meaning of the Word.

Of all techniques I have found to be most specious, and useless, is what is also known as "the reduced integer value of a word." You see this form used in numerology, but as a gematria tool, I find little value in the form and method.

This method states that words should be (or simple are) reduced to a single integer value. In the case of the word OSIRIS, for example, the word has a value of 89. The numbers 8 and 9 are added together to arrive at 17, and then the number 17 is added yet again to arrive at 1+7=8.

8, therefore, is the reduced integer value of OSIRIS.

In this example, esoteric equivalence is sought after through an ascertaining of linked words that reduce to the number 8. I once posted at a fairly large "beginners witch" forum and you would see this form of babble invoked all the time. I could only marvel at the naiveté of it all and figured that if the Creator sought to hide the Construct into such simplicities, we would have had no need to advance beyond the age of 7 relative to philosophical reasoning.

If you were to read work here at the Illuminatus Observor, you will find that this "technique" has NEVER been invoked and never will be.

Our goal is to seek into the manifold significations of words, and reducing words to a single digit does little to nothing to solving for this qaballistic exercise.

(c) The Method of Analogies drawn from the Shape of the Letters.



The idea of "drawing analogies" relative to the Craft of Qaballa is the same as using intuition to peer into an esoteric construction. It is not practical to "draw analogies" unless there is an established concept of the Letters having archetypal meanings attached to them.

Hence, when Crowley stated that seek out an order and value to the Alphabet AND ATTACH NEW MEANINGS TO THE LETTERS, the caveat was and generally is never considered that an established archetypal set of properties ALREADY EXISTED WITHIN THE OCCULT STRUCTURES existing and influencing the language.

For example: The Letter C is the SYMBOL OF THE OCCULT in that the Letter C is formed from the occultation of the Moon or Sun as a process of lunar or solar eclipses. The monthly occultation of the moon, forming a crescent C at the new moon, are but examples of this archetype already embed and existing in the Letter C.

In the case of the word COVER, we may say that the WORD OVER is describing the Letter C in that a shadow is falling OVER the "O" astronomic body (say the Moon) and hence is producing the appearance of the Letter C.

The WORD COVER, therefore, is really two concepts: the word OVER and the derived shape of "what" is "over" "what" to arrive at C, specifically taken from the occultation of the Moon as the primary observable pattern in nature.

Similarly, since the Construct is based on the idea that "mankind has been drowned in a deluge", we may surmise that the Earth is "covered in water".  Those who are drowned are the general masses, while "the illumined" or "enlightened ones" have risen above the water.  Hence in the word CRAFT, as in "the Craft of the Occult", we note that the Occult is the Letter C, and the RAFT is what keeps us afloat above the waters.  We may then derive further insights through the use of the Letter R.  Since the Letter R denotes "coming into being" as a product of B = Latent Life and R = Manifested Life, we can note further that the OCCULT was GIVEN BIRTH AFT(erwards), or was given birth after the creation of WORDS or "the Word".

In this way may the "Method of Analogies" be applied in order to peer into the manifold signification of words.

Applied Qaballa, in this case, has little or nothing to do with "gematria".  Gematria implies some mathematical code set into a word.  Drawing an analogy from the shape of a Letter provides further clues into an occult construction of words in that individual letters may provide us with the necessary keys in order to being a more comprehensive occult deconstruction.

In this way, equally, one may meditate on the Letter T and the Letter t.  In a serif format, the lower case letter "t" is shaped as half an anchor.  Hence we may deduce that the Ankh and the Anchor are philosophically linked, as the phonetics equally imply.

(d) The Method of Deductions drawn from the Meanings and Correspondences of the letters.

Again, we have to ask why Crowley would intimate such a method if he was to later equally admonish his flock to seek out a new order and value to the Alphabet and attribute new meanings to the Letters?

But lets look further into the mythologies:

As we read about the child "Jesus", it is said of him in "Thomas' Gospel of Infancy" from Lost Books of the Bible,

A CERTAIN schoolmaster named Zacchæus, standing in a certain place, heard Jesus speaking these things to his father.

2 And he was much surprised, that being a child, he should speak such things; and after a few days he came to Joseph, and said,

3 Thou hast a wise and sensible child, send him to me, that he may learn to read.

4 When he sat down to teach the letters to Jesus, he began with the first letter Aleph;

5 But Jesus pronounced the second letter Mpeth (Beth) Cghimel (Gimel), and said over all the letters to him to the end.

6 Then opening a book, he taught his master the prophets: but be was ashamed, and was at a loss to conceive how he came to know the letters.

7 And he arose and went home, wonderfully surprised at so strange a thing.

In other words, there is a prevailing knowledge of a mystical affiliation with the Letters. Letters contain much hidden value and archetypes, and this knowledge had always been the domain of "the Occult".

Hence, seeking out manifold significations in words requires a rational and conscious comprehension of the manifold significations of the Letters. Hence, utilizing "meanings and correspondences of the Letters", the word "correspondences" meaning "tables" of available knowledge, is often a subset or parallel set of knowledge or technique as utilizing the shape of the Letters.

If one does know the correspondences, one may deduce the correspondences through a rational analysis of the Letters.

For example: The Letter M is comprised of Male and Female components.

M = I V I = V II = VEE PI = EVE ADM = Pi and 666

The SHAPE of the Letters tells us that V is EVE reversed while the I I of the M is as ADM M - BRACING EVE, or V. One may then apply Qaballistic Arts to arrive at numerous additional philosophical meanings and correspondences.

This technique, as well as the technique of drawing insight from the shape of the Letters, is used extensively throughout the Illuminatus Observor as the technique is a staple to the manner and form in which words have been constructed.

Hence B means Latent Life and R means Manifested Life. The PROCESS is called BR(th).

(e) The Method of Acrostics drawn from the Letters. This Mode is only valid for Adepts of the highest Grades, and then under quite exceptional and rare Conditions.


Acrostics is the process of embedding a particular set of knowledge or idea into (in general) the first letter of a word that starts a line of a poem. Acronyms are the same concept but attributed to singular words. NEWS, as representing North, East, West, South, for instance, would be an acronym, while we could create a little poem as

Never in Land of Oz
Echos reality with a gleam
Wishes abound to fill the air
Sounds drifting in a dream

The poem begins with the Letters NEWS.

Although this technique may be used to encode clues to manifold significations of words, its usage as a tool takes enormous time relative to the values created.

However, the idea was quite prevalent in the times of Shakespeare, and many schools through time were dedicated to seeking out hidden meaning in Shakespeare's work using this technique.

One such concept is known as the Kaye and Simple Ciphers set into Shakespeare.

As a practical tool, however, this method should be considered largely archaic and obsolete.

Having studied or examined many of the works available on these methods, I have not been convinced that the technique leads to an ability to penetrate the manifold significations of words.

(f) The Method of Transpositions and Transmutations of the Letters, which suggest Analogies, even when they fail to explain in direct Fashion.

This technique is a staple within the Qaballistic Arts. Again, the term "drawing analogies" is the same as intuiting the need for letters or numbers to be transposed or transmuted.

There are MANY examples of this technique sprinkled throughout the Illuminatus Observor.

Since many words are encoding "Pi Proportion" properties, the transposition of letters and numbers is really at the heart of gematria encoding.

For example, we have noted many times that the word SUN shows that S is 3 and N is 5. Drawing analogies is a mystical way of saying we are looking at a mathematical formulation.

S = 3
U = (X)
N = 5

We know that U has a value of 5 (Isisian Code), but also that the value of 1:6 is the 21 Letter, or U, and hence we can surmise that most likely intended code is SUN = 365.

This method is really is the Qaballistic technique or Art known as Temurah.

As Crowley stated clear - all of these methods and more may be employed into the seeking out of the more hidden meanings in words. You may find these techniques, and more, demonstrated clearing throughout the Illuminatus Observor.

Whispers in the Wind - The Construct in Logos and Words

Let us spend a brief time in a free style exposition regarding the Construct.

The Construct is designed much around Numbers. According to Pythagorean mysticism, the Universe was created using Number, while our Western traditions fuse this further to the idea that Letters are fused to Numbers are fused to Sounds.

The entire system is based on the 6. The Goddess. The Virgin Mary. The Goddess Isis. Have it as you will.

Aries
Taurus
Gemini
Cancer
Leo
Virgo

Virgo is the 6th sign of the Zodiac. The very numbers of the name tell you this.

VI = 6
RGO - make of it as you wish.

Says Aleister Crowley, who released more than perhaps he should have,

"666. Last of the mystic numbers of the sun. SVRTh, the spirit of Sol. Also OMMV SThH, Ommo Satan, the Satanic Trinity of Typhon, Apophis, and Besz; also ShM IHShVH, the name of Jesus. The names of Nero, Napoleon, W. E. Gladstone, and any person that you may happen to dislike, add up the this number. In reality it is the final extension of the number 6, both because 6 x 111 (ALPh = 111 = 1) = 6 and because the Sun, whose greatest number it is, is 6."

Understand well that it is all based on the 6.

1's are 6's. Understand well the nature of Acroamatic Ciphers as told by Manley P. Hall,

"The religious and philosophical writings of all nations abound with acroamatic cryptograms, that is, parables and allegories. The acroamatic is unique in that the document containing it may be translated or reprinted without affecting the cryptogram. Parables and allegories have been used since remote antiquity to present moral truths in an attractive and understandable manner. The acroamatic cryptogram is a pictorial cipher drawn in words and its symbolism must be so interpreted....

The creation myths of the world are acroamatic cryptograms, and the deities of the various pantheons are only cryptic characters which, if properly understood, become the constituents of a divine alphabet. The initiated few comprehend the true nature of this alphabet, but the uninitiated many worship the letters of it as gods."

Says the Torah book of Genesis, at Pi, or 3.14:

"And the Lord God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, you are cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon your belly shall you go, and dust you shall eat all the days of your life."

As Crowley intimates. 1's are 6's. This is the nature of the Illuminatus or Luciferian philosophy and how it has been crafted. The above acroamatic cipher from the Book of Genesis says all it needed to say.

If the serpent is present, then onto its belly you shall go - an acroamatic cipher for the dice, which is based on 6's, for it is a cube. If you have a pair of "Snake Eye's" showing, or "two 1's", onto your belly you shall go, and hence use the two 6's that lie below.

This is the way of the Occult - hide, but not to the point of destroying the bonds that link the whole together.

111, therefore, being the Magic Square of the Sun, is really also a 666, for 6 squared is 36, and the sum of 1:36 is 666.

This NUMBER IS CODED AS EVE. 666 = EVE

Now study again the sign of VIRGO.  It is as an M, with a "fish", denoted the feminine aspect of the Letter M, which is EVE (see above).  A fish lives in the "sea".  Note how the final "1" is "cut" in order to integrate the second archetype within the glyph.

You will find the sign of Virgo silently whispering in the wind in the logo for "McCormick's" brand of seasoning and spices:
Should we equate each line of the "M" as a 1, we would reveal further "111" or "666", or, should we equate the 11 as Pi, and the half 1 and the C together, we would reveal 11 (PI) I C.

Tartar Sauce

Plutarch remarks in "On Isis and Osiris",

"It might appear that Hesiod,316 in making the very first things of all to be Chaos and Earth and Tartarus and Love, did not accept any other origins but only these, if we transfer the names somewhat and assign to Isis the name of Earth and to Osiris the name of Love and to Typhon the name of Tartarus; for the poet seems to place Chaos at the bottom as a sort of region that serves as a resting-place for the Universe."

So we see that Jehovah, who is Typhon, who is Seth, who is Cain, is also "Tartarus".

So we return to the sea. The sea is the domain of Typhon, the corruption of the salt known as "the spumes of Typhon". When a fish is caught from the sea, it is oft "deep fried" and served with "TARTAR SAUCE" and LEMON.

TARTAR SAUCE preserves the legends as they pertain to Isis and Osiris as composed by Plutarch, for TARTAR, served with fish from the SEA, is then the condiment that hints of the Jehovah/Typhon/Seth.

And since Jehovah/Typhon/Seth is also CAIN, what better brand than to be named "Cains Tartar Sauce". Indeed, Tartarus is of Cain, and so we should suspect same from Typhon's sauce.

And so more of the Construct whispers in the wind, served of course with Lemon, which is the fruit of Jehovah/Typhon/Seth/Cain.

Hurricanes and Typhoons

Hurricanes, and their co-named storms in the Pacific Ocean, Typhoons, are perhaps some of the most destructive forces on the planet. With winds reaching 156 miles per hour for a "Class 5" storm, the havoc and destruction caused by these storms can be vast in scope and fury.

Say's Plutarch in Isis and Osiris,

"and they relate a legend that Hermes cut out the sinews of Typhon, and used them as strings for his lyre, thereby instructing us that Reason adjusts the Universe and creates concord out of discordant elements, and that it does not destroy but only cripples the destructive force. Hence this is weak and inactive here, and combines with the susceptible and changeable elements and attaches itself to them, becoming the artificer of quakes and tremblings in the earth, and of droughts and tempestuous winds in the air, and of lightning-flashes and thunderbolts."

The destructive elements of Typhon are related to the "tempestuous winds of the air".

Match this to "lightning flash" and "thunderbolts", then you have the perfect description of a "typhoon" or a "hurricane". In the word Typhoon, we clearly see the root of Typhon, while in hurricane, we see same albeit a bit less visible.

HURRY = HURRI
CANE = CAIN

A "hurricane" is a "Hurry Cain", which again, correctly fuses Jehovah/Typhon/Seth to its Jewish tale of "Cain and Able", wherein Cain as Seth kills his brother Osiris as Able.

Tecate and other Fine Brews

Actually, I am just kidding.  It is a bit difficult to rank Tecate up there with "fine brews", but the name reminds me of Papus who said,

"We must admire the wisdom of the Initiates," writes Papus, "who utilized vice and made it produce more beneficial results than virtue."

The idea here is that the Ancients, in order to preserve their knowledge, wrapped the knowledge into various forms of "vice". Gambling seems to be entirely designed around the Ancient Osirian wisdom structure, and remains something that sects aligned with Jehovah/Typhon/Seth, have sought to eradicate.

In the case of Tecate, we turn to the acrostic of ORION, INRI, and ZION.

As we can see, the acrostic of ORION, INRI, and ZION, when properly aligned, reveals that the right 9 letters will form the word ORION as the T, the inverted T, and as the IRON CROSS as shown here:

The word ORION is but a code for PI in reverse.

N = 14
O = 15
I = 9
R = 2
O = 6

Hence we say that the TAU encodes PI through the ORION/INRI/ZION acrostic.

Returning to TECATE, we see that T is T, and so CATE is 3.1415, E being the sum of 1:15, which is 15. The T is CATE, or PI = 3.1415. Fused further to the Winter Solstice, and the archetype holds clear.

Perhaps another element of the Construct, the Letter G or the Number 7 as G and T, could not be better exemplified than in the spirits section.

Indeed, the number 7 was advanced well through the use of "whiskey", a word that makes one wonder if there is not a more latent and esoteric code.

Seagram's launched the campaign of "7 and 7", a mixture of Seagrams 7 and "7-up".

Of course, 7-up remains its own ingenious code.

As we can see, there are 9 dots to the right and 9 dots to the left of the center of the crown, respectively.  These 9 dots represent the 9 digits or Letters of the Alphabet as referenced in the Isisian Codes: A-I on the left, Q-Y on the right.

The center dots represent the 7 letters of J-P, starting with J at the base.



The 6th letter would be the Letter O, which is ciphered in this case as an upside down Venus, while the final letter is a dot inside the "Eye of the Pyramid".  This dot is the Letter P, and hence the word in the "Eye of the Pyramid" is the Word, or PI.

Hence, these are known as "the 7-Up Letters", which then are fused the archetypes of "crystal clear", and so forth.  The lemon flavor would be a Jehovah/Typhon/Seth representation, but by the time of the late 1920's, Freemasonry had put forward a belief that "Jehovah/Typhon/Seth" was a "redeemer god" in that all the trials and hardships caused one to seek higher to escape the torments inflicted by Jehovah/Tyhon/Seth.

All these things and more, especially logos that revolve around Letters, are in an of themselves preserving the larger esoteric code as designed.

The Alphabet is the Code, the letters are but manipulated to reveal in detail the adumbrations or shadows of the larger esoteric Construct.

Mercury, The Key to Decoding the Philosopher's Stone


Mercury is the Roman name for the Greek god Hermes. He is know as the "god of Communication", "Commerce", as well as that of "Thieves". He was, and remains, quote popular today, and even has a day of the week named after him in the Latin, "Miercoles", from the Roman name "Murcurii Dies". He has lent his name to the English word "Mercantilism" or "merchant", among others.

It is said of Hermes in the Corpus Hermeticum, III, Isis to Horus,

'And I', said Hermes, 'will make mankind intelligent; I will confer wisdom on them, and make known to them the truth. I will never cease to benefit thereby the life of mortal men; and then above all will I benefit each one of them, when the force of nature working in him is in accord with the movement of the stars above.'
(Corpus Hermetica, EXC. XXIII. Isis to Horus
Because of the planet Mercury's rapid movement around the Sun, it transits through the signs of the Zodiac in rapid fashion and equally enters into many conjunctions with the other planets. It is in this context that Mercury earns its esoteric qualities as "Messenger of the Gods".

This knowledge is transmitted through its planetary cycles and celestial geometry.

The Celestial Geometry of Mercury


The planet Mercury demonstrates a precise and unique pattern as it speeds around the Sun. For 4-6 weeks, it appears as a bright luminary in the West where it is known as "the Evening Star". It enters into an inferior conjunction with the Sun and disappears for about 1 week, where it reappears as a bright luminary in East. In this position, it is known as "the Morning Star", for its appearance heralds the coming sunrise. Mercury then enters into a superior conjunction with the Sun and disappears for 35 days.

This time frame is highly accurate. The entire cycle takes a period of 116 days (115.9), and so Mercury completes 3.14 cycles (Pi) in an Earth calendar year (365/116). The Ancients observed Mercury in 7 year increments wherein Mercury completes 22 conjunctions during the 7 years, returning back to its original start point as seen against the backdrop of the Zodiacal wheel.

This creates the effective observation of 22 isosceles triangles, with each triangle starting clockwise every third conjunction.

The 22/7 Mercury to Sun ratio is very precise, completing the 22/7 cycle within a 1 hour tolerance.

Hence we observe that Mercury's (Hermes/Thoth) transit through the heavens around the Sun as observed from Earth has a value of 3.14 cycles per solar year, and in a 7 year period, will complete 22 cycles and return to its original position. This 22/7 Sun:Mercury ratio creates another co-relational Pi observation in that 22/7 is a recipricol 7 Pi representation, while Mercury's return to its start point creates another co-relational Pi representation through the creation of a circular wheel as it traverses through the Zodiac.

Mercury/Hermes/Thoth, the "god of Communications", is integrally linked to Pi in all form and manner.

Mercury/Hermes in Pythagorean Gematria

As we have seen, Mercury as Hermes/Thoth, is intricately linked to Pi as observable astronomic phenomena. As we then begin to link this aspect of Mercury/Hermes/Thoth using "gematria" and other "Qaballistic" arts, we focus on modifications and transpositions.

In what was formerly a "secret of the Craft", Crowley released a small bit of insight into how words are formed in a work called "Gematria",

The methods of discovering Dogma from sacred Words are also numerous and important: I may mention:—

(a) The Doctrine of Sympathies: drawn from the total Numeration of a Word, when identical with, or a Multiple of Submultiple of, or a Metathesis of, that of another Word.
(b) The Method of finding the Least Number of a Word, by adding (and re- adding) the Digits of its total Number, and taking the corresponding Key of the Taro as a Key to the Meaning of the Word.
(c) The Method of Analogies drawn from the Shape of the Letters.
(d) The Method of Deductions drawn from the Meanings and Correspondences of the letters.
(e) The Method of Acrostics drawn from the Letters. This Mode is only valid for Adepts of the highest Grades, and then under quite exceptional and rare Conditions.
(f) The Method of Transpositions and Transmutations of the Letters, which suggest Analogies, even when they fail to explain in direct Fashion.

All these and their Varieties and Combinations, with some other more abstruse or less important Methods, may be used to unlock the Secret of a Word.

He went on to explain,

This formula, on which one may meditate for Years without exhausting its wonderful Harmonies, gives an excellent Idea of the Way in which Qabalistic Analysis is conducted.

First, the Letters have been written in Hebrew Characters.

Then the Attributions of them to the Zodiac an to Planets are substituted, and the Names of Egyptian Gods belonging to these are invoked.

In this case, what Crowley was divulging was that within the Qaballistic Arts there are rational and logical transpositions. A Letter, written in Hebrew, is then equated to a sign of the Zodiac, and in turn, the Egyptian "god" assigned to the particular Zodiacal sign is invoked. The Qaballist stores in his/her Mind the vast interlinking co-relations between the various races and cultures, recognizing that the whole of the Construct is, by design, Universal in scope and comprehension.

With this in mind, we return to Mercury/Hermes/Thoth. Thoth, the progenitor of the Letters and communication, the root for THOUGHT (THOTH = THOUGHT), has changed to Hermes (Hermes Trismagestis), and finds popular Universal acceptance as "Mercury". Thoth/Hermes/Mercury is also assigned many attributes, which include controlling aspects over "communications", "mercantilism", and "magic", to name a few.

Hence if we invoke the name Magos for "Magician" or "Wise Man", we are inferring that the Magos is Mercury/Hermes/Thoth at its exalted level, seeing how Mercury/Hermes/Thoth is the progenitor of these archetypes.

We know further that Mercury/Hermes/Thoth will "speak the Truth" and "benefit mankind" in such a manner as "the force of Nature is working within him in accord with the movement of the stars above."

This "nature", linked directly to the movement of Mercury/Hermes/Thoth is in accord to Pi, and in this manner, this accordance and return of "Truth" is akin to other traditions as say, "the recovery of the Lost Word" in Masonry, which, when acquired, benefits mankind and "lifts up the spirit."

Now, we return to Pi, Pi being of course a representation of Mercury/Hermes/Thoth.

The first 9 digits of Pi are as follows:

When these are set into 3 digit "pairs", the revealed numbers are as follows:

314
159
265

When we utilize Pythagorean gematria (Greek), we find that the digits 314, 159, and 265 equate to the following words as recorded in Greek.

314 = Magos (Wise Man or Magician)
159 = Megas (Great)
265 = Kleis (Key)

Translated further:

314 = (Wise Man or Magician) = attributes of Mercury/Hermes/Thoth = Mercury/Hermes/Thoth
159 = Great
265 = Key

Returning this concept back to popular literature, it could be said that "Mercury/Hermes/Thoth" is the "Great Key".

"Mercury/Hermes/Thoth, Geometry, and "Squaring the Circle"



Now lets review, again, the "Philosopher's Stone". It consists of a circle. Within the circle is found an isosceles triangle and within the isosceles triangle is a square. Within the square, we have another circle, and a wizard pointing the point where the circle touches the upper portion of the square.

As we have shown, Mercury traces 22 isosceles triangles within a 7 year period, completing itself a full co-relational circle through the Zodiac at the completion of this seven year period.

This 22:7 Sun:Mercury ratio reveals a reciprocal 7 representation of Pi. 22/7 = 3.1428571.

The isosceles triangle within the larger circle may be equated to the tracing of Mercury/Hermes/Thoth as it transits through the Zodiac as it circles the Sun. The larger circle, therefore, is the Zodiac belt, while the isosceles triangle is the tracing of the points in the Zodiac as set against an astronomic ephemeris.

The inner square and circle, therefore, is the viewing of this phenomena as seen from a stationary point, namely the Earth observation point.

In order to decipher the Philosopher's Stone, you need to make an inversion. The Square needs to be placed INSIDE the Circle, and here is why:

The Square and the Circle is a form of esoteric riddle.

When we take the 22/7 Sun to Mercury ratio, this reveals Pi in all manner.

 Mercury completes 3.14 cycles per Earth solar year, which, when measured over a 7 year period, creates 22 full transits. The 22/7 ratio reveals a reciprocal 7 Pi representation (3.1428571). In addition, these 22 cycles returns Mercury to its start point as observed from Earth, creation an additional co-relational circle as measured against the backdrop of the Zodiacal belt.

When we invert the 22/7 Sun:Mercury ratio (place the square within the circle), we create the fraction 7/22, which is .353, or Pi to the power of -1.

7/22 yields a digit of .318. .318, when used co-relationally, produces 318, 3.18, and .318 equally. The integer 318 is Greek word for HELIOS, or SUN. A circle with a diameter of .318, 3.18, or 318 will always reveal Unity, or 1, 10, or 1000.

Further, a circle drawn around a square with a perimeter of HELIOS (318), or Sun, will have a circumference of 353, or the numerical value in gematria of HERMES.

Hence, in order to unlock the Gematria as used by the Pythagoreans, the inverse of 22/7, or Pi to the Power of -1, or the fraction of 7/22, was being put into play.

This number, .318, was used co-relationally.  318 was encoded as HELIOS, or the SUN.

The circumference derived from a circle with a diameter of .318 is 1, or Pythagorean Unity.

A circle with a diameter of HELIOS, or 318, reveals 1000.

When a square has a perimeter of HELIOS, the circle derived from this square will have a value of 353, or the number for the Greek god HERMES.

The square, therefore, represents the Sun, while the circle represents Mercury's orbit around the Sun as viewed against the Zodiac belt as viewed from Earth.

In this way, the "Great Key" of the Magi is revealed, which again, returns us to Pi.

Codes and Ciphers in the Language - The Podcast



This is primarily a Podcast entry. Codes and Ciphers in the Language. The shows are over 35 minutes in length, so it represents one of the longest direct efforts to date.

Within the second segment is contained an explanation of the conceptual (Construct) code within the word STOP.

In brief, it may be explained this way:

The WORD STOP consists of TWO SEQUENCES.

ST and OP (T follows S and P follows O). Hence "ST" is a sequence and "OP" is a sequence.

The Alphabet is set against a CODE based on Pi.

Thus SUN shows movement downward until it comes to rest on the Letter T (Sol's T Ice). This means that the 22 day of December is set against the 7 letter. 22/7 = 3.1428571.

The SUN equally shows movement UPward until it reaches the Summer Solstice, which is also the Letter T (Sol'T of SOLSTICE). This too is 22/7 = 3.1428571.

Hence in a sequence, we can show that the SUN has the following formula per week.

T-U-V...S-T

ST represents the END of the sequence, upon which the SUN "ST-OP'S" at T.

The Letter T, therefore, can be shown to be a reflection of the SUN.  Equally, we may note that the SUN is the Letter M, which when reversed in sequence, reveals MLK, or MILK.  The female breast, therefore, is a symbol of the SUN and would, in theory, be further representative of the Winter Solstice.

If we reverse the world MILK, we create CLIM(b), for which the LADDER to be climbed will return us back to the philosophy of the SUN.

In parallel:

Our primary CIPHER, known as "the Isisian Codes", but really a "cipher" equally, reveals that the UPPER limit of code STOP's at OP.

Hence in the word STOP, we have within  TWO CLEAR SEQUENCES which reference a point where the SEQUENCE STOPS -

ST
OP

Combining the action of the Earth against a larger conceptual framework, the gyrating motion of the Earth is akin to a TOP.  This gyrating motion is conceptually encoded as the Sun as it rises and falls from season to season.

In this way may we view larger and more "onion" layers of reality encoded into words.

Esoteric Constructions in Words

Esoteric constructions abound in the English language.  The language contains within it a "coded Truth" that, once glimpsed, shines as a torch on what is the blackness of the surface of the sea in the dead of the night.
What is the highest aspiration for which one can reach?  Is it the resting place of Jehovah?  Is it the resting place of Typhon?  Is it the resting place of Seth?

Nigh.

The highest point for which one may achieve is the resting place of EVE, for "EVE'S REST" is the highest point on the planet.

The highest point for which one can reach to "rest" is with the Goddess (EVE).

Reaching the top of Mt. Everest is the pinnacle of the mountaineering achievement.  Reaching such a pinnacle, do we invoke "alef"?  Do we invoke "gimmel"?  Do we invoke "daleth"?

No.

We invoke PI and the PINE CONE, for each is integral to the root of the word PINNACLE.

In the Greek God Dionysus, we recognize the transposition of Osiris.  Consequently, reaching the "pinnacle" is to reach for Osiris.

If we reach, therefore, to scale the resting place of Eve (Mt. Everest), or to otherwise reach for the PINNACLE of some achievement, we are reaching for either Isis or Osiris.

What follows is a small bit of musing into techniques used and the nature of esoteric constructions in words.

The Double Headed Eagle


The Book of Formation states the following:

"These twenty-two letters, which are the foundation of all things, He arranged as upon a sphere with two hundred and thirty-one gates, and the sphere may be rotated forward or backward, whether for good or for evil; from the good comes true pleasure, from evil nought but torment."


Words may be written "forward" or "backward" as "upon a sphere".  Those which are written in reverse MAY have a negative attribute relative to the Construction.

They also MAY NOT.  But we should be aware of the technique to give us some added insights into the Construction.

For instance.  A ROOF is what is above one's head, in a manner of speaking, while a CEILING (SEALING) is as what seals the outer ROOF from the inner temple, as it were.  Reverse the word ROOF and we reveal the word FOOR.  ADD the "L" and a F(L)OOR is but the opposite of a ROOF.

It is said that "Adolph Coors", founder of Coors Brewery and the Coors brand of beers, travelled to the Rocky Mountains and it is from "Rocky Mountain Spring Water that Coors is brewed."  However, we can note that the maxim regarding the two headed eagle, that words may be interpreted forward or backwards, comes into play again.

The word ROC(key) and CO(o)R's are but inverses, or reverses, of the same letters.

ROC = COR

"ROC"KY MOUNTAIN = COORS

We may then peer a bit further to reveal that C-OR = SEER, while O's, equaling E's, reveals more clear CEER's or SEERS.

At the CORE of the system are the SEERS.

Of course, we need not demonstrate such ideas with such mystical constructions. Consider the lowly bird, how its head moves up and down while search and pecking for food.

Now consider the sport of basketball and the act of "DRIBBLING a BALL".

What, precisely, separates the observable motion of the BIRD to that of the DRIB(BLE)?  The word DRIB is BIRD in reverse.  The inherent motion of a ball as it is "dribbled" has been fused as a verb (to drib-ble) and yet is but the opposite of a noun from which the action many be observed (a bird).


BIRD = DRIB(ble)

Coincidence?  Or Construction?

Principle of Notaricon


Notaricon is a form of esoteric shorthand.  In the practice, it is not much different than the idea of an acronym.  For instance, we know that the use of the letters CIA, in general, applies to the United States "Central Intelligence Agency".  In this case, a new "word", CIA, is coined as an acronym, comprised of the first letter of the words that make up the phrase.

However, the English Alphabet is, in and of itself, a form of Notaricon code.

The Letter B is the word BE and BEE, equally.   Hence in the word BLESS, implying "to increase or benefit", contains the Notaricon code set of BE LESS.

There is a philosophical quandary here: is one invoking another to "become less", or is this a concept of "inverse duplicity", willfully encoded as an extreme opposite but carrying the meaning of the opposite of the extreme opposite?

Words may have SINGLE LETTER NOTARICON, or the entire word may be a literal form of NOTARICON.

For example.

The Word SWORD, linked as it is to the sign of AIR, and AIR being linked to the SPOKEN TRADITIONS, provides us with a fascinating set of insights into the use of Notaricon.  We begin with the word SWORD.

S-WORD

What is the probable word derived from the notaricon "S"?

Obviously, since the SWORD is assigned to the element of AIR, and AIR is assigned to the Oral Traditions as AIR is the medium through which the Spoken Word travels, we can surmise the most logical word relative to Notaricon is that the letter S is hiding the word SPOKEN.

Since a SPOKE is a radius of a wheel, we can break down the word set SPOKEN WORD to read SPOKE AND WORD.  In this case, the Letter N is a form of NOTARICON for the word AND.  Since we know that the SPOKE is the radius, then the word must be PI, for it is the circumference of the circle derived from the SPOKE.


Of course, in the word AIR we have the A as I(1) and the I as I(1), which, when combined, reveals II, which is PI, or "the Word", but we observe.

One must always be aware of the use of Notaricon in word creation, and especially as this word create applies to esoteric constructions.

Single Letter Notaricon Constructions



Consider that the Construct is fused to Nature. The Letters, named and designed as they are against the very patterns of Nature, effectively represent Nature. Through deciphering the Letters we are able to come to an understanding of Nature as Nature has been set down to words.

For instance.

The Letter B. It is the Goddess pregnant with Horus. It is the profile of a pregnant woman, and as such "Latent Life", as opposed to manifest life, or the Letter R (are). The Letter is also the BEE. Here we have the link to the Goddess and the Queen BEE. The shape of the HIVE is that of a HEXAGON. Within this HEXAGONAL structure is a substance called HONEY.

Note here the some of the variants on the color of HONEY.


The color variants of HONEY match the color variants of BEER. Within the word BEER is the word BEE, and it is from the BEE that is derived HONEY. In this way is BEER as the BEE fused to HONEY as the BEE - it is the color and health benefits, derived from nature, that are then fused to the Letter B.

Since B is the Goddess, the ultimate fusion is that HONEY DOES NOT DEGRADE OR SPOIL when exposed to AIR. In this case, AIR is defined as the corrupting forces of TYPHON and hence it is the product of the Goddess which cannot be spoiled by the obfuscation of Jehovah/Typhon/Seth.

In the Letter C, we have both positive and negative notaricon usage set to archetypes.

In the negative aspect, the C is the SEA which, like the LEMON TREE, is a sight to behold but whose fruit is bitter and cannot be partaken of directly.

The SEA, which covers the life that lives underneath, and in the process, obscures the SUN, is representative of the drowning of mankind in a SEA OF DELUSION (the DELUGE).

Since the SEA is the realm of Jehovah/Typhon/Seth, aka as "Jah", it should come as no surprise that to "glide above the waves" would become the sport of JAH-ting.

YACHTING = JAH-TING

Since the Letter C is derived from the OCCULTATION OF THE SUN OR MOON, the C carries with it the willful deceptions aimed at fooling mankind and deluding it further.

However, the C also carries with it the positive aspects of the Occult.

Since the word OCCULT is derived from the word OCCULTATION, this word carries with it the principle of "concealing and revealing".  Hence in the Letter C we have the very principle (in past tense) of the word SEED.

The Seed contains all the potential of what the plant shall and can be, hence with a simple modification of D to N, the word SEED become SEEN.

Each word, therefore, represents a form of past tense.  The SEED, it could be said, has SEEN what the plant can and will become.

This is a form of conceptual reasoning, based on the Construct, but provides a very clear example of how esoteric constructions are built into words.

This form of analysis and construction is simply expanded across the entire Letter sequence.

As this is accomplished, what slowly emerges is a comprehensive philosophical construction that sheds light on an ideal known as "Universal Truth".
