The Owl as a Symbol of the Occult

What is it that "they know" that you do not, as least as such pertains to the Occult and Occult symbols? Why would a group of seemingly rational grown men get dressed up in costumes and light a fire to an Owl?

What is the intent of such a ritual? From where does the Owl have value and is the Owl being used for a negative purpose, or is this ritual part of an admixture of evil (Setian) with good (Osiris/Isis), and the good uses the symbols as a show of force in the face of evil equally? The owl, of course, has come to symbolize wisdom, and so the properties of the owl as a product of nature are then fused to the Occult as referenced by Higgins.

Indeed, the owl provides us with a ready made example of demonstration of the idea of modifications and transpositions, which can then be set against acroamatic ciphers and/or

Here at the Illuminatus Observor, our purpose is to help all regain control of the symbols from the face of irrational fear even as Occult formulas are de-storied and laid bare.

Let us peer now into the Owl as an sign of the Occult.

The Owl in Illuminatus Mythology

In the "Hymn to the Mystic Fire", at the third line of Mandala 2, we find the following statement:

"O Master of the Word, thou art Brahma, the finder of the Riches: O Fire, who sustainest each and all, closely thou companionest the Goddess of the many thoughts."

Then, in the beginning of On Isis and Osiris, we find the following statement in Chapter 1,

"the end and aim of which is the knowledge of Him who is the First, the Lord of All, the Ideal One. Him does the god urge us to seek, since He is near her and with her and in close communion. The name of her shrine also clearly promises knowledge and comprehension of reality;"

This is what is known as a "modification" or "transposition". Each of these statements is inferring the identical principle, or conceptual. In the Hymn to the Mystic Fire, the "fire" is "Agni". You must then go into the various attributes of Agni to ascertain what the co-relations are from an Occult basis.

In Sukta 14 of the Hymn to the Ancient Fire, we read:

"With all these gods, O Agni, thou who art the activity of speech, arrive and do thy work."

Agni is regarded as the artificer of Religion and a messenger between mankind and "the Gods", among so many other attributes. Yet Agni is but a transposition for Osiris, wherein the root code of Agni is the sound of GN from which is derived so many words relative to fire, including the word IGNITION, or to start. And as Agni is the "primitive fire", we can not that within the word FIRE may be found the very ROOT of the word FIRST, and so what is FIRE is AGNI, and NG-LAND all the same, this serves as a reminder that that the world was not found on Jews and their god, that the Occult does not revolve around Jews and their god, and that religions fabricated from Jews and their god are bound to be corrupted and false teachings en masse.

So within the Illuminatus System is a knowledge of the relationship between the OWL who is close to "him" who is "the Ideal One" and from which comes all knowledge, and a seemingly "satanic" ritual that revolves around the Ideal One as AGNI in close communion to the OWL as "the Goddess".

What we see unfolding is the relationship between Isis and Osiris and a deeply held truth in practice still today against this higher esoteric based knowledge system. As Aurobindo explained in his "Doctrine of the Mystics",

"The whole world is a dumb and helpless sacrifice in which the soul is bound as a victim self-offered to unseen Gods. The liberating Word must be found, the illuminating hymn must be framed in the heart and mind of man and his life must be turned into a conscious and voluntary offering in which the soul is no longer the victim, but the master of the sacrifice. By right sacrifice and by the all-creative and all-expressive Word that shall arise out of his depths as a sublime hymn to the Gods man can achieve all things. He shall conquer his perfection; Nature shall come to him as a willing and longing bride; he shall become her seer and rule her as her King".

The OWL is ISIS (SPEECH), the One is (RELIGION), the Letters are "the gods", the Alphabet is "the God".

Deciphering the Owl as a Symbol of the Occult

When we view the word "occult", we trace our meaning back to the word "occultation". An "occultation" is a term that speaks of one astronomic body covering another. When the Moon covers some far off distant star, that far off distant star is "occulted". When the Earth covers the moon (hence creating the phases of the moon", then the moon is "partially occulted". When there is a solar or lunar eclipse, we have a condition of a full "occultation". This is just one very small example of what is meant by Higgins when he states that,

"We have advanced far enough in our investigations to have perceived that the underlying principle of all mysteries of philosophy and religion, past and present, have been what might be termed "ciphers" or "cryptograms" of the ascertained phenomena of nature;"

Comprehending this is the "epoptic part", or the philosophical part, of the Illuminatus system.

For instance, when we refer to the OWL, "we" know we are referring to the "TWO", and hence the letter B. Nature, being cyclical, will repeat patterns over and over within a range of a pendulum that swings from side to side, with some unseen force from time to time seeming to make the pendulum swing more to the right or the left, but always within a range or value that is measurable.

So we take the Letter B, and, seeing how it denotes "the Goddess", or the Feminine, we can note that the belly of the woman grows and contracts as it is latent with life, gives birth, and repeats the process again. Thus to "become" or "to be" is a philosophic linked to the Letter R, in that to get to BE you must pass through B and manifest through R. Thus, the verb "to be" is linked to Hence so many words are fused around this basic philosophic: BRN, BRed, BReed, BRing, BRought, BRth, and so forth.

Thus we can equate in the "B" as a growth. When we reverse the B, we create the word EBB, as in the "ebbing tide". Thus B and EBB are philosophical truths fused to Nature and then encoded into the Letters as "the gods".

But the B is always linked to the C in that the C is located at 3 and the B is comprised of the mathematical formula of 1+2=3. 2 B or Not 2 B, that is the question. Further musings and pondering of such philosophics should lead one to a comprehension, said comprehension a glimpse into the apperception of the conceptual.

The Owl as a Symbol of the Goddess

The Owl as an archetype exists throughout many cultures, but the owl has direct links back to the worship of Ishtar, or the Queen of Heaven. In this relief, found in Iraq, Ishtar can be seen with two owls at Her feet.

In this case, the Owl is being linked to Ishtar, who is then linked to Isis who is then linked to Speech.

ISIS = 9+19+9+19 = 56 = 19+16+5+5+3+8 = SPEECH

SPEECH is in close proximity to the ideal ONE, as referenced in Isis and Osiris and Hymns to the Mystic Fire, or Agni. Each the tales regarding Isis and Osiris revolve around a promise of gaining knowledge and insight if with patient perseverance, we study "the gods", or the Letters, in our effort to comprehend "reality".

The Construct is akin to the night, or wandering in the darkness, and hence the OWL, with its keen vision and ability to "see in the night" is the Occult equivalent of being able to ascertain reality and thus not be deceived by the illusions created from the "de-fining" of words that the make up reality.

All of this entails a long digression into the Mysteries, of which this article provides you with ample allusions. Still yet, the entire construction of the Illuminatus System is set against a series of numerical ciphers all equating back to the 0 through 9, with the 26 digit Alphabet being further caste against the 0-9.

Thus the Goddess as B and R are to be located at Number 2. Thus the word OWL is hiding a very simple and yet clever cipher, still further caste against Nature. The secret is in the transposition or ration of 3:4. The 3 is comprised of the Letter C, S, and L in the basic cipher system. However, the L is also known as "the fallen angle, or angel", in that the L when spun 180 degrees on its side becomes the Letter L.

Thus L's in certain words can be seen to be T's, and so we can take the word OWL, cipher the Letter L back to a T to create the word OWT, and then simple spin the word in reverse to reveal its inherent and designed code:

Thus what is being said is that "the Owl" is what is able to see in the night and it is the Owl that gives us wisdom and vision as we make our way through the Construct. So before you are so quick to dismiss this or that as mere "occult satanic ritual", it is best to get the real source meaning of the symbols lest you vilify what is really a higher level esoteric truth and reality, that the Goddess is the Owl, and that it is the worship of the Goddess that allows us to gain wisdom and knowledge, for as Plutarch said in "On Isis and Osiris",

"the end and aim of which is the knowledge of Him who is the First, the Lord of All, the Ideal One. Him does the god urge us to seek, since He is near her and with her and in close communion. The name of her shrine also clearly promises knowledge and comprehension of reality;"

Thus you will find the OWL next to the One in the Dollar Bill and next to the White House in Washington DC, a powerful message that what founded America was built on a comprehensive knowledge of Isis and Osiris, and a conscious worship of the Goddess who gives milk and honey and provides for a bountiful harvest.

That's not to take away from the other symbols to be found there that do not require such embellishment...

The owl of Minerva is the owl that accompanies Minerva in Roman
myths, seen as a symbol of wisdom because the owl is capable of seeing
even in the dark and of vigilance because the owl is awake at night.

The nineteenth-century idealist philosopher G.W.F. Hegel famously
noted that "the owl of Minerva spreads its wings only with the falling
of the dusk" — meaning that philosophy comes to understand a
historical condition just as it passes away. Philosophy cannot be
prescriptive because it understands only in hindsight. He had
in mind the transition from eighteenth-century feudalism
to nineteenth-century commercialism and democracy.

“One more word about giving instruction as to what the world ought to
be. Philosophy in any case always comes on the scene too late to give
it... When philosophy paints its gray in gray, then has a shape of
life grown old. By philosophy's gray in gray it cannot be rejuvenated
but only understood. The owl of Minerva spreads its wings only with
the falling of the dusk.”>> —G.W.F. Hegel, Philosophy of Right (1820), "Preface"

It is important to know that up to the 18th century, alchemy was considered serious science; for instance, Isaac Newton devoted a great time to alchemy. With the birth of modern chemistry, alchemy was thought to be impotent. However, even in the 19th Century one of the most influential German philosophers, Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel put forward a philosophy of history driven by the Holy Spirit by means of a Universal Dialectic. This alchemical vision of history is preceded by Taoist thinking in China and paved the way for dialectical materialism.

As scientists began to discover and rationalize the clockwork of the universe, most alchemical theories were thrown in the waste basket, unneeded and forgotten. The old matter transmutation form of Alchemy enjoyed a moment in the sun in the 20th Century when physicists were able to convert lead atoms into gold atoms via a nuclear reaction. However, the new gold atoms lasted for under five seconds before they broke apart.

It is sobering to observe that much of alchemy, after having such a rich and colorful two thousand years of history - during which it enjoyed the preeminent position among scientific studies - could be so easily and totally ostracized by scientists and common citizens. However, this was mostly because of a reaction in European intellectualism against the Romantic movement. Such fashionable trends in science change frequently and, in the 20th Century, psychologist Carl Jung re-examined alchemical symbolism and theory and began to show the inner meaning of alchemical work as a spiritual path.

Moon Phases Simplified

It's probably easiest to understand the moon cycle in this order: new moon and full moon, first quarter and third quarter, and the phases in between.

As shown in the above diagram, the new moon occurs when the moon is positioned between the earth and sun. The three objects are in approximate alignment (why "approximate" is explained below). The entire illuminated portion of the moon is on the back side of the moon, the half that we cannot see.

At a full moon, the earth, moon, and sun are in approximate alignment, just as the new moon, but the moon is on the opposite side of the earth, so the entire sunlit part of the moon is facing us. The shadowed portion is entirely hidden from view.

The first quarter and third quarter moons (both often called a "half moon"), happen when the moon is at a 90 degree angle with respect to the earth and sun. So we are seeing exactly half of the moon illuminated and half in shadow.

Once you understand those four key moon phases, the phases between should be fairly easy to visualize, as the illuminated portion gradually transitions between them.

An easy way to remember and understand those "between" lunar phase names is by breaking out and defining 4 words: crescent, gibbous, waxing, and waning. The word crescent refers to the phases where the moon is less that half illuminated. The word gibbous refers to phases where the moon is more than half illuminated. Waxing essentially means "growing" or expanding in illumination, and waning means "shrinking" or decreasing in illumination.

Thus you can simply combine the two words to create the phase name, as follows:

After the new moon, the sunlit portion is increasing, but less than half, so it is waxing crescent. After the first quarter, the sunlit portion is still increasing, but now it is more than half, so it is waxing gibbous. After the full moon (maximum illumination), the light continually decreases. So the waning gibbous phase occurs next. Following the third quarter is the waning crescent, which wanes until the light is completely gone -- a new moon.

Bohemian Grove According to Sharlet

Growing up my father told me on numerous occasions, sometimes from a drunken stupor, that I was Bohemian. One of my childhood names was "bow-hunk". He'd roar with laughter and sheer delight at the disclosure. I loved being called bow-hunk and never tired of him telling that particular story. My spine stiffened, I felt powerful and special. Although I did not know what it meant, I knew it was a damn good thing to be a Bohemian.

Another thing he would do is was lovingly grab my arm, pull it down and point to my blue veins running on the underside of my arm. He'd look me in the eye ... with great intensity and proclaim that "I" was "the" blue blood. More roaring laughter from him ... more delight for me. Hot damn I'm special I thought! My eagle wings sprouting from my back, sheer delight cascading through my little body. Who knew how high I'd soar?! Damn it's a wonderful world! I'd quiver all over inside as I rushed for the door to go play in the yard. Each bug, each tree a miraculous world of fascination unto it's self.

Cremation of Cares... The owl symbolizes wisdom, Sophia, hence why it has always been popular among humanity. Wisdom is not to be found written in any book or in the eyes of another human being, it is between you and the vision you see in your mirror. Wisdom, like the owl is a solitary and private creature; much like our own soul.

It is to wisdom, the owl, to whom we burn our private cares. The cremation of cares is when you crack open a bottle of whiskey or jump out of a plane to roar towards the earth at 120 mph, and say to hell with it all, the church, the "government" the opinions of others, the expectations we put on each other, the pain, the suffering, the death of dreams and aspirations and even the loss of your very existence. For by losing your very life, you gain the universe. You live without fear.

I am flattered that the "world elite" mimic my heritage, the wisdom of my forefathers. My forefathers are men of great distinction, warriors of wisdom and alchemist to their children. For I am the very child scarified to this world, born of a Bohemian blue blood.

The world "elite" are not especially evil, no more than you or me. They get up, put their pants on and return to the dust when the breath leaves their lungs. You could have been one of them, perhaps you are one of them?

Bohemians are not victims, we are clever, calculating, joyous creatures of adventure who love the journey and drink of the nectar of life. We are the fools of the tarot, the whores of the gypsies.

I for one feel like a damn good cremation of cares ceremony! Pass the bottle, start the plane! Let the world economic system collapse, you can't stop it anyhow! Bring on martial law, fuck, end civilization for all I care, I am ready to die. Hahahah LOL

What are YOU gonna do? LOL Hahahahhaha
Who is the way shower among the tribe? LOL Hahahahhaha

Drink and be merry, you damned bow-hunk! Beautiful Sophia is coming around soon with another round!

Dennis! I just found your Blog via Red Ice Radio today! I thoroughly enjoyed your interview! I created "Bohemian Grove According to Sharlet" in response to Alex Jones and Mike Hansons' book "Bohemian Grove: Cult Of Conspiracy". I realized that my up bringing prepared me to view the book's shock and repulsion of supposed Pagan child sacrifice and the Cremation of Cares Ceremony in a unique light. I have yet to find one human being who can understand what I mean ... I am hoping my words are self evident to you! I look forward to exploring your blog and learning gemetria! I have intuitively realized for years, there was something concrete underpinning my language. Once I figured out to "caste a spell", was literally to spell words! I am so excited to see your discoveries. What are your thoughts as to whether or not Francis Baccon (and his team) had a hand in expansion and "perfection" of the English language? I have more reactions, that turned out to be short writings and one is about Pangea. I suspect you will really enjoy it! I will try to find it ... until later ... I will be learning. Thank Q so much for all your hard work!

I am absolutely positive that when given the opportunity, one can be given any form object, symbol, or historical figure amd derive a multitude of meaning from it. Topics such as these are constructivist and individual whether passed down from generations or compiled from the couch of ones home on a lonesome night. Not that anyone is asking, but my advise would ne to seek the truth of the present and reality rather than mythological meanings of one of Gods oldest creatures. If we spent as much effort in to education and beneficial curriculum as we do in this wild theology, wed be in a much better functioning society.

Thank you carl merlet for introducing a straightforward view of how the phases of the Moon come from its position relative to the Sun, nothing at all to do with being 'occulted' by the Earth. I'd facepalm if I did that sort of thing.
Also if dealing with the Etymology of words and roots of Language it pays to step outside of the one you are currently using sometimes... Just a thought.

Poor owls, blamed for evil... yet, if the Natv Amers. & Europeans, had stories about them...there must be something to it.

I read in a book about Hypnotic regressions, that a little boy remembered in a dream, that an "Owl" bit his toe"- and whenhe was regressed, it turned out that, he had been kidnapped and a Gray had drawn blood from his big toe.

Sajaha 2

("Ereshkigal and the owls")

"Where, O wise ones, has the circle its beginning? And where its end?" -
Ereshkigal asked once the owls that live in deep caves by day and just look the world at night.

The first owl, saying, "Where the light stops, is the beginning of the circle, and where the darkness ends, there is an end."

The second owl said, "because everything has started once in the light, walks through the darkness and returns to the light."

But the Ereshkigal wanted to know otherwise, and further asked the owl: "You speak to me from the course of eternity into eternity. But I have here drawn with a stylus a circle on a stone. You speak of that world - but I wonder about the meaning of this! "

The first owl, saying, "Whatever applies in that world, also applies in this world; just that there is thousand times more in that world."

The second owl said, "Your circle that you have drawn and shown us, is nothing more than a small image of the Great."

The Ereshkigal became impatient and called out to the Owls, "You want me to do what is different from each other! Tell me, where are at this, my circle, beginning and end! "

The first owl Laughed and the second owl replied: "There are beginning and end, like you did set the one and the other, when you drawed. But now you've forgotten it. "

And the first owl said, "How you forgot this small, so you forgot the great. If you knew at the beginning of all being, you would not ask us because of the circle. I tell you though, because you must know, still the following: It is - whatever you start in the earthly world - not with itself, it has its higher counterpart, meaningfully in the other world of which you, Ereshkigal must know.

When you draw the circle here with the stylus on the stone, you have a closed line, which, according to its nature, appear to have neither beginning nor end - and yet once had!

It is the same with the great cycle of eternity into infinity: Connected forever is all together, known from the beginning to the end, known to who created it.

This indicates that all is inseparable from beginning to end, permanently, through all the cycles of eternity. And so you don't know any longer how to distinguish the beginning and end of your drawn circle, so it is with him who created all existence.

In beginning he is familiar with the end and in the end with the beginning. One is everything - every breath of eternity.

If you do not yet understand, go and ask for more in the other world. "

So the Ereshkigal stood up from the stone on which she had been sitting, and left the owls.

The second owl said to the first: "Ereshkigal keeps all too often in the underworld. So the circle is to her as if she stood in it and would be caught in it. Free is just who goes along on his line. "

When Ereshkigal, however, walked through the long corridors of her underground palace, the words of the Owls still remembering, because she suddenly saw the end of the longest tunnel, the distant light at the door, and she understood that at the source of the light meet end and the beginning.
